College Application Essays
Your audience is made up of administrators and teachers who have been reading stacks of essays every day. They have been inundated with lists of accomplishments and future goals. How is your essay going to stand out? One word: Voice.
These panels of readers want to know who you are as much as they want to know what you’ve done. If they could interview every prospective student to get to know you personally, they would. But instead they ask for essays. Your job is to show who you are in writing that is organized, effective and genuine.
To write an essay in which your voice shines through, you will need to do a lot of thinking, brainstorming and drafting. As your writing coach and editor, I will help you to:
- figure out what you most want to convey about who you are
- mine your life for the details and stories that best express your attributes
- use these stories to find the perfect topic for each school’s essay prompt
- organize and develop your rough draft
- revise your essay multiple times, cutting unnecessary language and adding effective details
- meet all word count requirements and…
- write a final draft that genuinely expresses your voice, captivates your readers and convinces them that you belong at their school.
